The Federal and WA State Governments have jointly funded energy bill relief - to help ease cost of living pressures.
The good news is you don’t need to apply! Any eligible customers will automatically receive their first credit instalment from 20 July 2024. The second credit instalment will be applied to your account from 7 December 2024.
How much bill relief will I receive?

For customers currently on the A2 Residential tariff, MyPower or Prepaid Power plans.

What is the $700 WA Household Electricity Credit Offset?
The Western Australian Government announced the $400 Western Australian Household Electricity Credit on 9 May 2024.
On 14 May 2024, the Commonwealth Government announced $300 of additional energy bill relief funding for households through the Energy Bill Relief Fund Extension.
Funded by both the Commonwealth and Western Australian State Governments, the purpose of the 2024 Offset is to assist eligible residential electricity customers with the rising cost of living by providing a one off non refundable account offset that is to be applied to an eligible residential electricity account.
The value of the 2024 Offset is $700 (GST free) payable over two instalments of $350 each with the first payment being applied to eligible residential accounts on 20 July 2024 and the second payment being applied to eligible residential accounts on 7 December 2024.

Who's eligible for the credit offset?
Both credit offset payments will be applied to eligible residential customer accounts that are supplied electricity by Horizon Power under an eligible residential product as of 17 June 2024 for the first offset on 20 July 2024 and 18 November 2024 for the second offset on 7 December 2024.
Customers will not need to apply for these offset payments, as we will automatically identify eligible residential customer accounts.
Eligible residential products include:The Home Plan (A2) Tariff.
- All non-regulated residential products including the Sunshine Saver, Smart Connect, My Power and grandfathered products along with pilot products offered by Horizon Power targeting residential customers.
- Pre-payment meter accounts on one of the above residential tariffs; and
- Pilot products offered by Horizon Power targeting residential customers.

Can I get the credit offsets refunded to my bank account?
No. The credit offset payments cannot be transferred or refunded to a financial institution account. If you’re moving supply address in WA and are being billed by Horizon Power or Synergy, you can transfer any remaining credit offset balance on your existing account to your new account.
This will be applied to future bills at the new supply address. If the account holder closes their Horizon Power account and the offset has not been fully applied to the account, any remaining balance will be returned to the WA State Government and not refunded or “cashed out”.

I'm not billed by Horizon Power. Will I receive an equivalent to the credit offset?
Yes. The WA State Government has advised that households who are not billed for their electricity use by Horizon Power or Synergy – such as residents of caravan parks, retirement villages or apartment buildings, will be eligible for an equivalent credit, except in exceptional circumstances.
Households who are not billed by Horizon Power or Synergy and that were registered for the Energy Concession Extension Scheme (ECES) on 17 June 2024, will receive an equivalent credit automatically through the ECES.

What is the eligibility cut off date?
To be eligible for the first payment, residential customers must have an eligible account as of 17 June 2024.
Customers who open an eligible account after 17 June 2024 but before 18 November 2024 will only be eligible for the second payment, that will be made in December 2024.

Will I get the credit offsets if I have closed my account?
No. Your account must have been open from 17 June 2024 and 18 November 2024 for the payment dates of 20 July 2024 and 7 December 2024 (qualifying dates).

Can I get more than one payment on the same account?
Eligible customer accounts are only entitled to one Household Electricity Credit offset payment and one Commonwealth Energy Bill Relief credit offset payment.

Eligible small business products include:
- L2
- K2
- C2
- D2
- MyPower Business plans 3kW - 15kW
- an account held by a local government authority, council or entity created pursuant to the Local Government Act 1995 (WA); or
- an account held by a Western Australian or Commonwealth Government statutory authority, trading enterprise, department, or agency; or
- an account held by a telecommunication company that is, for example part of the corporate group of, Telstra, Vodafone, Optus or the National Broadband Network; or
- an account held by an authorised deposit taking institution where the entity is, for example part of the corporate group of, Westpac, Australian and New Zealand Banking Group, Commonwealth Bank or National Australia Bank; or
- an account held by a major mining or resources operator, that is, for example part of the corporate group of, BHP, Rio Tinto, FMG, Chevron and Woodside; or
- an account for temporary electricity supply for the purposes of constructing premises; or
an account where consumption at the premises was more than 50MWh in the 12 months prior to 9 May 2024; or - an account where Horizon Power reasonably expects consumption for the account to be greater than 50MWh over a 12-month period.
